Introducing cPanel AutoSSL

AutoSSL is the solution to one of the biggest headaches that exists for every cPanel & WHM user: SSL installation and renewal. AutoSSL installs FREE signed SSL certificates that are automatically generated and installed on the server. There is no need for you to generate a certificate signing request (CSR), pay a Certificate Authority (CA) for each certificate, or renew certificates when they expire. cPanel takes care of everything for you.

Did we mention AutoSSL certificates are FREE?

The only requirement is that the domain name must be registered, and is pointing to an IP address on a cPanel server. These FREE SSL certificates are fully trusted by browsers, the same as certificates purchased from a certificate authority (CA). Certificates are good for 90 days, and renew automatically when there is 7 days or less remaining.

How do I enable AutoSSL?

If you are on a Shared server, an AutoSSL certificate will automatically be installed if there is not currently an SSL installed or if your current SSL expires soon.

If you are on a dedicated or cloud server with 64-bit Centos 6 or greater and at least cPanel 58, we have a knowledgebase article that will walk you through enabling AutoSSL located here:

https://kb.acenet.us/AutoSSL

Once AutoSSL is enabled, the server will automatically instal SSL certificates if one is not already installed, and add a cronjob to handle the download and install of new SSL certificates for all your hosted domains.

Upgrade now to take advantage of AutoSSL

AutoSSL was introduced as a new feature in v58, but if your Cloud or Dedicated server is still running CentOS 5 or CentOS 6 32-bit, you won’t be able to take advantage of this free SSL certificate. cPanel & WHM v56 is the last to support CentOS 5. If you want the benefits of AutoSSL, it’s time to migrate to a 64-bit Centos 6+ server!
